Dover Amateur Radio Club

G3YMD

Foundation Course

To date, we have completed 26 courses, and 161 new radio amateurs have been born as a result of our efforts.  We were very proud when the RSGB issued a certificate after our 100th candidate. The youngest candidate was only 8, and the oldest 76. Our success rate is 92%, which is a long way above the national average, and seems to indicate that the way we organise things seems to work.

Courses have been conducted on two consecutive Saturdays, working all day. On the first of these, all the more difficult aspects of the syllabus are covered, and copious study notes are issued. There is then a week for the facts and figures to be digested, and the students are issued with a Revision Course specially compiled for us by Steve Seabrook M0ECS, which tests them on what they have been taught and acclimatises them to the style of exam questions. On the second Saturday, the remainder of the syllabus is covered, there is a mock exam followed by a revision session, and finally the exam takes place and hopefully everyone passes!

We are now running a foundation course starting the 8th September 2010 with the exam on the 20th October 2010 over a number of Wednesday evenings at the same time as the club's meeting.

For more information on this course or to apply, please contact the club secretary by emailing secretary@darc.org.uk.
