Radio Amateur Examination
As of January 2004 all licensing will be based on a three tier progressive system where the entry level is the Foundation licence, the next level is the Intermediate licence and the final level is the Full licence. The Radio Communications Agency (RA) will be the examining body and examinations will take place at a Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) registered examination centre.
The Dover Radio Club is a registered examination centre for all Radio Amateur Examinations. The following information is intended to help examination candidates.
Foundation Licence Radio Amateurs’ Examination
The examination for the Foundation Licence is an end test, which is an integral part of the Foundation course. Please see the Foundation Licence Training page on this site for information.
Intermediate Licence Radio Amateurs’ Examination
Candidates who undertake Intermediate Licence training at the Dover Radio Club will automatically be entered for the examination, which will be held on the Monday following the end of the course.
Candidates who have undertaken training at other venues must obtain an RSGB enrolment form from the Club RSGB Examination Secretary by sending a S.A.E. to:

Candidates who have undertaken any other form of study must satisfy an RSGB registered assessor that they have undertaken the practical projects, as defined in the Intermediate Licence Training syllabus, before being accepted for the exam’. The Dover Radio Club Instructors can assess the projects if required. Further details and an RSGB enrolment form can be obtained from the Club RSGB Examination Secretary by sending a S.A.E. to the address given above.
NOTES:
1. Intermediate candidates must have a good knowledge of the following documents:
RA190 and BR68/I. these can be downloaded from the Radio Agency at: http://www.radio.gov.uk/
2. The course manual “The Intermediate Licence - Building on the Foundation” is essential reading during study. It is published by the RSGB and is available from them by phone, post or via the Net at http://www.rsgb.org/ Most local booksellers should also be able to order RSGB books.
Candidates attending training at the Dover Radio Club will be provided with all the required publications and course notes.
To save confusion changes to the Full licence examination arrangements will not be published on this site until they are in place in 2004
